The choices are somewhat random, based on what's lurking on my computer and what I may have tripped over in my morning haste to get dressed and get out the door on the way to work. At work I go for the full album stance, listening to entire albums from start to finish. Mix-tape memories aside, my work week has been cluttered with a variety of tuneage. It's a great tape that has proven to be quite timeless. The one tape that's been getting maximum exposure this past week has included tracks from Jack Drag, Medicine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Echobelly, Hum, Black Grape, Overwhelming Colorfast, and a few others. The coolest thing is that a mix-tape always takes you back to the mind-state you were in at the time. Okay, perhaps not that intriguing, but something's got to be said about rummaging through an old collection of unmarked tapes and re-discovering what's on them. Add to the mix a dusty box filled to the brim with old cassettes and you've got a recipe for sonic intrigue. If you want the result you usually want it now. Advantage 2: Drive to Action Another even more important one is the drive to action. ![]() I said "mix tapes." For some reason Toyota saw fit to equip my 2004 Tacoma with a CD/Tape combo and I've seen fit not to replace it (yet). So flexibility is one major advantage in the result oriented mindset.
